ABBA Greatest Hits Full Album - Best Songs Of ABBA

Agnetha Fältskog (vocals; born April 5, 1950); Benny Andersson (keyboards; born December 16, 1946); Björn Ulvaeus (guitar; born April 25, 1945); Anni-Frid Lyngstad (vocals; born November 15, 1945)

ABBA rose out of Sweden in the Seventies to become one of the most successful and beloved pop groups in music history. Their success gave a more international flavor to popular music, broadening it beyond the English-speaking countries of origin. ABBA truly was an international phenomenon, topping charts and breaking records in England, France, Italy, Germany, Holland and Scandinavia. For a few years, ABBA ranked second only to automaker Volvo as Sweden’s biggest money-making export.

According to the RIAA, ABBA has sold more than 10 million records in the U.S. Estimates of worldwide sales range as high as 350 million. In the U.K. alone, these Swedish superstars charted 19 Top 10 singles (including nine that went to Number One) from 1974 to 1982. America proved somewhat more impervious to ABBA mania, as the group cracked the U.S. Top 10 only four times and hit Number One exactly once (with "Dancing Queen," in 1977). However, America got belatedly on board when the "jukebox musical" Mamma Mia!, based on the songs of ABBA, became a Broadway sensation. In December 2009, it became the 12th-longest-running Broadway show in history as it closed in on its 3,400th performance. Mamma Mia!, which premiered in London in 1999, has played around the world to an estimated 40 million people. A film version and accompanying soundtrack were released in 2008. All of this further fueled ABBA mania, which remains in high throttle three decades after the group’s breakup in 1982.

Johnny Cash Greatest Hits Full Album

John R. "Johnny" Cash (born J. R. Cash; February 26, 1932 – September 12, 2003) was an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, actor, and author, who was widely considered one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century and one of the best-selling music artists of all time, having sold more than 90 million records worldwide. Although primarily remembered as a country music icon, his genre-spanning songs and sound embraced rock and roll, rockabilly, blues, folk, and gospel. This crossover appeal won Cash the rare honor of multiple inductions in the Country Music, Rock and Roll and Gospel Music Halls of Fame.

Cash was known for his deep, calm bass-baritone voice, the distinctive sound of his Tennessee Three backing band, a rebelliousnesscoupled with an increasingly somber and humble demeanor, free prison concerts, and a trademark look, which earned him the nickname "The Man in Black". He traditionally began his concerts with the simple "Hello, I'm Johnny Cash", followed by his signature "Folsom Prison Blues".

Much of Cash's music echoed themes of sorrow, moral tribulation and redemption, especially in the later stages of his career. His best-known songs included "I Walk the Line", "Folsom Prison Blues", "Ring of Fire", "Get Rhythm" and "Man in Black". He also recorded humorous numbers like "One Piece at a Time" and "A Boy Named Sue"; a duet with his future wife, June Carter, called "Jackson" (followed by many further duets after their marriage); and railroad songs including "Hey, Porter", "Orange Blossom Special" and "Rock Island Line". During the last stage of his career, Cash covered songs by several late 20th century rock artists, most notably "Hurt" by Nine Inch Nails.

John Denver Top 10 Songs - John Denver Greatest Hits

John Denver Top 10 Songs - John Denver Greatest Hits

It has been 17 years since folk/country artist John Denver died tragically in a plane crash. He will always be remembered not just as a musician, but also as a song writer and an excellent storyteller. The country boy put his feelings into lyrics in his songs and entertained his fans for many years. Here are 10 of his best songs that will be treasured forever.

“Thank God I’m a Country Boy”
As one of the most well-known John Denver songs, “Thank God I’m a Country Boy” has become a classic. It was included in the album Back Home Again in 1974. It was written by John Martin Sommers, but Denver made it come alive as he always did.

“Rocky Mountain High”
You could tell just how much he loved the mountains when he sang this one. He had always said that he found joy in the Rocky Mountains and he made Colorado his home because he loved it so much. Denver, along with Mike Taylor, wrote this tune in about nine months and has become one of his best songs.

“Annie’s Song”
This wonderful love song was written by Denver to his wife at that time and of course, her name was Annie. He wrote the song in just a few minutes as he rode on a ski lift. He said that the scenery was so beautiful that he wrote down his feelings that he couldn’t seem to contain and those same feelings he had for his wife. The song stayed at number one on the music charts for two weeks and was also considered the 25th top song of 1974.

“Sunshine on My Shoulders”
This particular song was written by the singer as he was thinking about spring on a gloomy day. Just as the song reveals, he wrote it as he thought about how good the sunshine would feel when spring finally arrived. Many people can certainly relate to that feeling at the end of a long winter.

“Take Me Home, Country Roads”
This popular song was written by Bill Danoff and Taffy Nivert, but the song was originally supposed to be sold to Johnny Cash. Fortunately, John Denver heard the song and told his co-writers that he wanted to record it and put it on his 1971 album, Poems, Prayers, and Promises. It became one of his most treasured recordings.

“Calypso”
Jacques-Yves Cousteau and his ship named Calypso was honored by John Denver in music. He wrote the song in 1975 and it was included on his album Windsong. The two men were said to be close friends.

“Fly Away”
Windsong also featured the song “Fly Away.” It was written by the country boy himself, but he also had a little help from a friend on background vocals. Songstress Olivia Newton-John can be heard singing softly along with Denver.

“My Sweet Lady”
This sweet tune is so simple but it tells of a strong love story. He sings about the bond between a couple and the love they have for each other. This is another signature John Denver song that showed how he truly felt about his lady.

“I’m Sorry”
This 1975 ballad was basically an apology put into music. It was included on the album Windsong. It has become a favorite among his fans because of the meaningful lyrics that stand out.

“The Eagle and the Hawk”
His moving tribute to these two birds who soar high above the mountains almost make listeners soar just as high. That is what made John Denver so appealing is that he spoke to people and had a way of making his stories come alive. There have not been many musicians who can do that as well as Denver. This song is short, but it certainly speaks loudly.
